A walk along the western edge of Milton Keynes, starting at Furzton Lake and ending at the iconic Concrete Cows. The route takes us through some pleasant countryside and parkland, passing by Willen Lake and across open fields.
Meeting Time: 10:00 AM
Directions to Start Point: From M1 Junction 13, take the A509 towards Milton Keynes. At the second roundabout, take the third exit onto the A5 towards Buckingham. Continue for about 1 mile and take the slip road for Furzton Lake. Follow the signs to the car park.
Walk Description: We will begin at Furzton Lake, walking north along the western shore. We will then follow footpaths and bridleways towards Willen Lake, eventually crossing it via the bridge. From Willen Lake, the path leads us through farmland and open spaces towards the village of Bradwell. Our final destination is the herd of Concrete Cows, a well-known local landmark.
Refreshments: There are cafes at Furzton Lake and Willen Lake, which may be open for a pre-walk coffee or a post-walk drink. Alternatively, there are pubs in Bradwell.
What to Bring: Please wear sturdy walking boots and comfortable clothing suitable for the weather. Waterproofs are recommended. Bring a packed lunch and drinks if you plan to eat during the walk.
