Introduction
Who are we?
We are a group of people who enjoy walking in the green spaces of Milton Keynes and the surrounding countryside. Everyone is welcome to come on our walks, whatever their age or level of fitness. Non-Ramblers Association members are welcome to walk with us two or three times before joining the Ramblers Association (see the New Walkers page). There is also a thriving Hike MK Group aimed at those between 20 and 40 years old. Further details of their activities are available on the Hike MK website.
What do we do?
We organise walks on a regular basis with one of our members acting as the leader. This involves providing the route, starting time, and meeting place, which is then published on the Walks Programme page of our website. Walk lengths vary between about 5 and 15 miles and may take place over a half-day or a full day. Some of our members act as local Path Checkers and assist with Ramblers Association activities at Area and National Level.
We also have a Photo Gallery and a Facebook Page which will give you a better idea of the walks we do, the terrain, and the scenery.
Where do we go?
Most of our day walks are in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, or Northamptonshire and within reasonable travelling distance from Milton Keynes.
When do we meet?
Walks are planned throughout the year for Saturdays and Sundays. In the summer months, we have midweek evening short walks, usually starting about 6:45pm.
Membership
We currently have around 220 members of the Ramblers Association in the Milton Keynes Group. Numbers on walks can vary from about 8 to 25, depending on the length of the walk and terrain.
